Hudson's Bay has moved up the opening of its Amsterdam flagship to September 5. - HBC

And just two days later, Hudson's Bay will open its doors in both Rotterdam and The Hague, according to the online magazine Het Parool. The Dutch publication says the retailer has also planned openings for Leiden, Breda, Maastricht, Almere, Zwolle, Tilburg and Den Bosch by the end of the year.

The product range is to be younger and more fashionable than sister retalier Galeria Kaufhof, a German department store chain acquired by HBC in Septembr 2015. The new Dutch flagship format will include fashion forward brands such as Topshop, Topman, CK Jeans, Opening Ceremony, the Kooples, Nike, MAC, Aveda, Vitra and HAY, which the retailer said in a statement will position Hudson's Bay as the ultimate fashion destination for Dutch shoppers.

Hudson's Bay Company includes Saks Fifth Avenue, Lord & Taylor and Galeria Kaufhof. HBC has been operating at a loss for fiscal year 2016/17. For the twelve months to the end of January, the Canadian department store group posted a net loss of 516 million Canadian dollars (about USD 410 million). In the first quarter of 2017, the bottom line showed a loss of $221 million (USD 176 million).
