For designer Masaba Gupta’s brand House of Masaba’s first collaboration with Ekaya, the two brands have created a design story about a group of women who go to play a cricket match after a wedding in their handloom sarees. The collection includes characters like “Skipper Sheryl” and “Not Out Namita” who demonstrate the versatility of the saree and encourage women to wear them outside of formal occasions.

“Cricket as a sport has always been really close to my heart, so we decided to take the saree on to the pitch and show girls how to embrace the fluidity of the drape,” wrote Gupta on her brand’s social media.

The collection features a number of brightly coloured sarees including a royal blue saree and pink saree with pomegranate motifs, a black saree with Tamil wording, and green sarees with horn and calligraphy motifs among others. The collection also features a number of kurta sets. The collection mixes Gupta’s signature fusion-style prints with Ekaya’s handloom heritage with a striking effect.

House of Masaba has collaborated with a number of brands for collections including with Titan for a collection of luxury watches and with Tribe by Amrapali for its first jewellery collection. The brand also recently held a pop-up store at The Nest in Hong Kong on March 30.
