House of Anita Dongre has received the required permissions from government authorities and production of these masks has begun in two of the five rural village centres in Maharashtra.

Around 24 women are working at these centres that will create up to 7000 masks each week for distribution to NGOs, village residents, individuals, and hospitals.

The women in these village centres are working under strict social distancing and hygiene protocols as per government guidelines to produce these masks and distribute them.

“Every one of us must do everything within our power to stop the spread of this virus and keep as many people as we can safe. The production of reusable masks is one step in that direction,” in a statement said Anita Dongre, chief creative officer of House of Anita Dongre.

The company clarified that there is no end goal right now.

“As long as people need masks they will be produced and distributed,” Dongre added.

Earlier, Dongre had set up an Rs 1.5 crore ($203,000) medical fund for small vendors and artisans and confirmed that all of her companies’ direct employees already have medical insurance.
