House of Masaba opens first swim/resort shop in the Maldives

House of Masaba opened its first ever swim/resort store at the Taj Exotica Resort & Spa in the Maldives on April 6. The brand recently forayed into swimwear with its latest resort collection.

Located within the Taj Exotica Resort & Spa, House of Masaba’s new swimwear line now resides in its first dedicated store, which opened on Saturday. The brand recently launched the line along with its current resort collection and now opened its first ever swim and resort wear dedicated store. As a double first, the store is also its first in the Maldives and first outside of the Indian mainland. 

The line features founder and designer Masaba Gupta’s signature whimsical prints with coconuts, white birds, unicorns, and flowers all featuring on swimwear designed to suit different body types.

“I’ve kept in mind the Indian size—big women, small women, women with larger chests—and designed functional and comfortable swimsuits that will work for all ages,” Gupta told Vogue India.  

“Indian women are conservative in their choices, especially swimwear. Women want swimsuits that they can wear to both family holidays and weekend getaways with their partners," she said. "But finding flattering pieces that work for both occasions isn’t easy in India. That’s how the idea came about for the swimwear line.”
