Hindustan Unilever to launch digital transformation for business

Hindustan Unilever is working towards a digital transformation of its business with a project titled “Reimagining HUL” that aims to set it up for future growth in India’s fast moving consumer goods industry.  

HUL, which retails a number of beauty and personal care brands in India such as Lakmé, Sunsilk, Dove, Pond’s, and Vaseline, is working on digitising its business. HUL has already launched over 80 experiments to this end, the business told its shareholders at its 86th annual general meeting on June 29, as reported by the Press Trust of India. The business has also set up a digital council to function as a group of leaders from various sections of the company to carry out the Reimagining HUL project.  

"With the world changing at a furious pace, we are continually adapting to remain future-fit,” said HUL’s chairman and managing director Sanjiv Mehta at the meeting. “We will continue to leverage Unilever's global knowledge and our deep local understanding to serve our consumers better be it through path-breaking innovations or our expertise in new channels.”

"Despite being one of the fastest growing markets globally for fast moving consumer goods products in recent times, the per capita FMCG consumption spend in our country is still amongst the lowest in the world, giving the sector a long runway for growth,” said Mehta. "Key factors like rising affluence, changing family structures, emerging new large cities and a young working population will positively impact the growth of the industry."
