Hindustan Unilever Q4 net profit up 14 percent to Rs 1,538 crore

FMCG major Hindustan Unilever (HUL) witnessed a 14 percent growth in its net profit for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2019, at Rs 1,538 crore ($222.4 million).

The company had posted a net profit of Rs 1,351 crore during the corresponding quarter last fiscal.
 
HUL’s revenue for the quarter also rose by 9 percent to Rs 9,808 crore as against Rs 9,003 crore it had reported in the same quarter last year.

HUL’s beauty and personal care business was again the highest contributor to the company’s overall revenue and witnessed a 7 percent growth to Rs 4,393 crore, while the homecare segment grew 13 percent to Rs 3,502 crore.
 
Commenting on the results, chairman and managing director of HUL Sanjiv Mehta said, “We have delivered a strong performance for the quarter despite some moderation in rural market growth. Our focus on strengthening the core and leading market development has been consistently delivering good results."
 
For the financial year 2018-19, Hindustan Unilever’s sales rose a meagre 2 percent to Rs 37,660 crore with net profit climbing15 percent to Rs 6,036 crore.
