The company attributed the rise in profit to strong performances by its home care, beauty, and personal care verticals.

HUL’s sales for the quarter also rose to Rs 9,708 crore as against Rs 9,138 crore it had reported for the same period a year ago. The home care segment contributed Rs 3,371 crore, while beauty and personal care segment added Rs 4,543 crore to the company’s overall revenue.

Commenting on the Q2 results, HUL chairman and managing director Sanjiv Mehta in a statement said: “Amidst a challenging market environment, HUL has delivered another quarter of resilient performance and sustained margin improvement. Our focus on consumer value, excellence in execution and market development continues to serve us well.”

“The near-term outlook for demand, especially in rural India, remains challenging,” Mehta added.
