“Hair colour is just the beginning of the India journey,” Henkel Consumer Brands’ country head for India Krtik Kaushik told the Press Trust of India. “The goal is to build a holistic hair solutions portfolio.”

The brand has ambitious plans for expanding in India and aims to attain a 20% share of the premium segment of hair colour crème by 2025. Henkel also plans on expanding from hair care into beauty and personal care segments as well.

“The idea is to create a structured distribution network for business-to-customer and then get in these cutting-edge products,” said Kaushik. “We are an international powerhouse of global brands. All the global brands at some time or another, depending on which stage the market is, we intend to get them.”

As India’s consumer goods market has grown significantly in the last decade, Henkel is keen to expand in the area to tap into this opportunity for growth. The business had exited the Indian market around a decade ago but had returned to reestablish its presence in a more favourable market.
