The company, which released a collection of officially licenced flip-flops together with Rio 2016 Olympic Games, is expanding in Spain with the launch of four new stores, two in Barcelona, one in Tenerife and one in Mallorca.

Havainas will operate three stores under a franchise agreement, while the fourth location in Mallorca is set to be directly-managed. The brand is very selective about its locations, considering the seasonal nature of its assortment.

Owned by Alpargatas, Havainas makes in Europe most of its revenue for the period between May and August, thanks to the summer holiday season. In Spain it has eight directly-operated stores and nine franchises, as well as 1,200 multi-branded points of sale.

Alpargatas recorded revenues of 557 million euros in the first half-year of 2015, which represented a growth of 5.8% against the same period the prior year.
