The Hanut Singh trunk show, which has run at Bungalow Eight every year since 2004, returns to Mumbai this weekend. The event began when Bungalow Eight, now a multi-brand fashion retailer, was an interior decoration focused shop and Ahluwalia told Vogue India that, “The trunk show with Hanut was our first-ever fashion pop-up and the collection completely sold out.”

When asked about what the upcoming trunk show will bring to the boutique, Ahluwalia told Vogue India: “You never know what is coming next. Hanut is always on the hunt for new materials and explores them in dynamic ways. His work is flowing, evolving and reaching new heights, always. Even after all these years, he has managed to keep the brand inaccessible, and people wait to see him.”

“I always put my best foot forward for my Mumbai shows with Maithili because she gets my essence and we have great synchronicity,” said Singh about the upcoming show. “The women are receptive to my work, have great flair and know their minds, which I love. This year, I am presenting a new collection of primarily earrings, which is a distillation of the highest order of my own growth in my profession. I am upping the ante big time.”

Singh’s customers include Beyoncé and Rihanna and the jeweller is a descendant of the Kapurthala royal family of India. The designer’s main influences include Art Deco and architecture.
