The recent Handicrafts Export Awards recognised a number of businesses in the sector and shone a light on handloom textiles as the EPCH gears up for its upcoming spring trade show in February.

The Handicrafts Export Awards celebrated textiles in Noida

On December 18, the 22nd Handicrafts Export Awards ceremony was held at the India Expo Centre and Mart in Greater Noida. The event, supported by the government Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH), saw the Union Minister for Textiles Smriti Irani present awards to business that have performed exceptionally in the sector.

The award ceremony highlighted a number of businesses that specialise in handloom textiles and weaves. As the government is working on increasing India’s traditional and sustainable textile production, the event aimed to further stimulate textile manufacturing for both domestic use and export.

The EPCH was established in 1986 under the Companies Act and is a non-profit organisation that works to promote Indian handicrafts spanning fashion, textiles, accessories, and home décor among other products. The EPCH’s main event is its annual IHGF trade show in Delhi.

The upcoming edition of the EPCH Delhi Fair is scheduled for February 18 to 22, 2019 at the India Expo Centre and Mart in Greater Noida.

The fair attracts international buyers, wholesalers, retailers, and distributors. The trade show focuses on lifestyle and fashion products and plans to host 2,900 exhibitors in the 2 lakh square foot venue.
