H&M India’s country manager, Janne Einola, has resigned from the company, citing personal reasons. Einola will be heading back to Finland to join his family after ending his tenure in October.
Einola had joined H&M in Finland as department manager and after holding several positions across different verticals was entrusted with the responsibility of launching H&M in India.
He has been in charge of H&M’s India operations since its launch in mid-2015, and under him, the brand has expanded across the country. The Swedish brand had reported revenue of Rs 1,236 crore ($168.8 million) with the net profit of Rs 45 crore for fiscal year 2019.
“For the past 5 years, [Einola] has driven India’s fast expansion and locally relevant customer experience, but has now decided to move on for personal reasons. He will be taking a break before deciding on the next course of his professional life," H&M said in a statement.
H&M opened its first store in India in 2015. Since then, the brand has expanded across the country’s metros and tier 1, 2 cities. It currently has around 50 stores across 15 cities.
