Swedish fashion retailer Hennes & Mauritz AB (H&M) will expand its retail presence in the Indian market by entering four new cities this year.

H&M will open its new stores at TMS Prestige in Kochi, Trillium Mall in Nagpur, Pinnacle Plaza in Dehradun, and Jalandhar’s Model Town. Each store will be spread over an area of 65,000 square feet and house the latest collections for ladies, men, teenagers, and kids.
 
Commenting on the expansion plans, Janne Einola, country manager at H&M India in a statement said, “New stores in cities across India reinforce H&M’s customer-centric focus. We look forward to welcoming customers at their new favorite fashion destination.”

H&M opened its first store in India in 2015. Since then, the brand has expanded across the country’s metros and is now targeting tier 2, 3 cities for growth. It currently operates 42 stores across Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore, Pune, Amritsar, Indore, Coimbatore, Kolkata, Mohali, Mysore, and Ahmedabad.
 
To cater to a wider audience across India and boost sales, H&M has already launched its website and recently partnered with Flipkart-owned fashion platform, Myntra.
 
H&M aims to open 50 stores across India by 2020 with an expected investment of Rs 700 crore ($97.5 million). It has reported over Rs 1,100 crore in annual sales for the past four years.
