Gur Organics has gone on “sabbatical”. Entrepreneur and fashion designer Pernia Qureshi has announced that her sustainable womenswear brand is taking a break from operations.

“Thank you for your patronage,” Gur Organics wrote on Facebook on Tuesday. “Gur Organics will be on sabbatical from 1 November, 2022. We look forward to serving you again in the future and hope you will continue to be a part of our family.”

Prior to this announcement, the brand had not posted anything to suggest a break from operations was in the offing, although it did run a 50% off sale across its entire product selection on its e-commerce store in October. The brand’s website now is a static page bearing the message “We’ll be back soon”. Shoppers can enter their email address to be notified when the shop is up and running again, but no time frame has been given for this.

Gur Organics specialises in sustainable womenswear, made using textiles produced from materials ranging from milk to aloe vera and other natural materials. The brand has cultivated a modern and paired-down aesthetic with feminine details and fusion style tailoring.

Pernia Qureshi launched Gur Organics in 2019 with the aim of using natural fibre, eco-friendly fabrics to create youthful, modern designs. The entrepreneur had previously launched a womenswear brand under her own name which specialises in occasion wear and launched multi-brand luxury fashion platform Pernia’s Pop-Up Shop, which she sold to Purple Style Labs.
