Grasim Industries inducts two new members to board

Textiles and construction giant Grasim Industries has appointed Ananya Birla and Aryaman Birla to its board of directors. The new appointees are the daughter and son of the business’ promoter Kumar Mangalam Birla.

Ananya Birla and Aryaman Birla were inducted as directors on Grasim’s board in a meeting on Monday, ET Bureau reported. Grasim’s board of directors also appointed Yazdi Piroj Dandiwala as an independent director. 
 
“The global scale built across diverse sectors like cement, fibre, and chemicals is a testament to the dynamism that defines the company,” said Grasin’s chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla, the Press Trust of India reported. “Grasim now is at a pivotal juncture as it is on the verge of creating two new high-growth engines- paints and business-to-business e-commerce fir building materials. This is, therefore, an appropriate moment for the board to induct Ananya and Aryaman as directors… Ananya and Aryaman believe passionately in the group’s values and purpose. I am confident that they will further add dynamism and energy to the group’s rich entrepreneurial traditions and help create sustained stakeholder value.”

Ananya Birla and Aryaman Birla were also recently appointed to the board of directors of the Aditya Birla Management Corporation. The business provides strategic direction to businesses in the Aditya Birla Group. Both have also been appointed to the board of Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited as additional, non-executive directors.
