Good Earth launches collection at the Met Museum in New York
Indian fashion and lifestyle brand Good Earth has launched its new collection, ‘The Blooming Poppies’, at The Met Museum in New York, bringing its vision of South Asian craftsmanship to an international audience.
The collection has a dedicated display in the museum’s store ‘The Met Store’ and is part of an ongoing collaborative design project named ‘The Heirloom Project’ between Good Earth and designer Madeline Weinrib. The project is designed to feature alongside the museum’s revived collection of Islamic cultural artefacts.
The collection has a striking colour palette of sky blue and poppy red with black and white accents. Products range from kaftans to table linens, crockery, vases, decorative ornaments, glassware, and metalware among others.
“Good Earth is pleased to announce The Blooming Poppies is now available at the Met Museum store, both online and in store,” Good Earth announced on Facebook on January 11. “This collection is a collaboration with the highly talented New York-based designer Madeline Weinrib– who conceived and led The Heirloom Project to honour the design heritage and artisanal skills of diverse Islamic cultures around the world.”
The collaborative collection brings Good Earth’s signature take on South Asian culture to a wider market and highlights its aim of keeping Indian craftsmanship alive and supporting artisans, who manufactured the collection for The Met Store.
“Over the years, Good Earth has been steadily supporting initiatives that bring dignity, education, and training to young artisans,” said Good Earth’s founder and creative director, Anita Lal, the brand posted on Facebook. “We have been championing traditional handicrafts, investing in maker communities’ livelihoods, and reinventing the balance between the old and new to sustain our crafts legacy for future generations.”
