Good Earth, known for its homeware and “Sustain” ethical clothing line, will make its first foray into couture at LFW’s upcoming winter festive edition. The collection, “The Miniaturist” takes its inspiration from miniature painters whose traditions can be traced back to the 11th century and later to the Mughals.

The collection will not only be Good Earth’s first couture collection but will also be the first time the brand has worked with Gota textiles.

“The size of gota we have used is really small, around one to two millimetres, and our treatment is subtle and delicate,” Good Earth’s founder Anita Lal told Vogue India. Inspired by the history of Gota as a textile worn by royals, the collection will use it for bridal couture embellished with golden moons, pomegranates, and other floral motifs. The collection will be available for bespoke orders following the runway show.

Good Earth launched the Sustain label in 2010 as a sustainable fashion line for all ages and sizes. The couture runway show will take place at 9:30pm at the St Regis as the final show for day one of LFW which will run from August 22 to 26 in Mumbai.
