Good Earth has bolstered its sustainable fashion contingent by launching Kishmish’s new collection, the brand announced on Facebook on June 29. Kishmish’s new collection has a colour palette of navy blue, red, white, and neutral and garments are designed to be mixed and matched to create a wide range of looks for a minimalist, sustainable wardrobe. The brand has worked with craft communities across India to create the ‘slow fashion’ line of handloom textile dresses and separates.

The line features pieces of scrap fabrics from past collections with the aim of reducing textile waste and creating unique garments. Offcuts are used to create patchwork trims and cuffs for what the brand has termed its ‘Potla Potli’ project.

“Our designs are about people, as much as they are about the materials,” said Kishmish founders Rekha Bhatia and Nikki Kalia, Good Earth shared on Facebook. “Hand spinning and weaving are community crafts that bring a sense of togetherness, as many hands are required in the processes. The final products celebrate traditional skills, artisanal imperfections and human aspect of handcrafting.”

Kishmish was launched by Rekha Bhatia and Nikki Kalia in Mumbai with the aim of creating simple, comfortable handloom clothing, according to the brand’s Facebook page. The brand is known for its relaxed silhouettes, use of heritage craft techniques, and handloom textiles.
