Originally of French origin and revived by the Italians in 2009, Vionnet is now entirely owned by GoTo Enterprise, headed by Gogo Ashkenazi. The London-based Kazakhstani billionaire bought the controlling share of Vionnet in May, demoting former owners, Matteo Marzotto and his associates, to minority shareholders and has now bought out the remaining shares of the company. Her interest in the brand apparently stems from a Vionnet dress she had seen in a Cannes showroom in May, where she also met the brand’s owner, Matteo Marzotto.

From the presentation of Vionnet’s semi-couture capsule collection in Paris in September, it seems like the CEO has been trying to up the hype around the label. According to the press release, Gogo Ashkenazi is not only majority shareholder but also creative director of Vionnet.
