Godrej Consumer Q2 net profit jumps 11 percent to Rs 458 crore

FMCG major Godrej Consumer Products Ltd (GCPL) reported 11 percent increase in its consolidated net profit at Rs 458 crore ($62 million) in the second quarter ended September, as against a net profit of Rs 414 crore it posted in the same quarter a year ago.

The company’s revenue for the quarter rose 11 percent to Rs 2,894 crore, as against Rs 2,608 crore it posted in the corresponding period of the last fiscal.
 
GCPL’s expenses for the quarter was up 8 percent to Rs 2,325 crore, as against Rs 2,159 crore it reported in the year-ago period.

Commenting on the results, GCPL chairperson and managing director, Nisaba Godrej in a statement said: “We delivered a strong performance this quarter with double-digit, profitable sales growth. All our geographic clusters also recorded positive sales growth.”
 
On the outlook, Nisaba Godrej said: “GCPL will continue to focus its efforts in segments where the demand is, as in household insecticides, hygiene, and value for money. We are ramping up innovation and have launched several new products, strongly price-enabled, across geographies. Across channels too, we are making a shift; doubling down on digitisation and platforms like e-commerce and chemists.”
 
Godrej Consumer Products Ltd is owned by the billion-dollar firm Godrej Group and has a strong presence in the personal care and cosmetics market.
