Godrej Consumer Q2 net profit rises 5 percent to Rs 479 crore

FMCG major Godrej Consumer Products Ltd (GCPL) reported a 5 percent increase in its consolidated net profit to Rs 479 crore ($64.6 million) for the second quarter ended September 2021, as against a net profit of Rs 458 crore in the year-ago period.

The company’s revenue rose 9 percent to Rs 3,144 crore, as compared with Rs 2,894 crore in the year-ago period.
 
GCPL's total expenses rose 11 percent during the quarter to Rs 2,579 crore, as against Rs 2,325 crore in the corresponding quarter.

Commenting on the Q2 results, GCPL executive chairperson Nisaba Godrej in a statement said: “We saw steady sales growth in the home care and personal care categories. Home care grew five percent and personal care continued its strong momentum, growing by 10 percent. The sub-categories within home care and personal care saw broad-based growth.”
 
On the outlook, Godrej added: “We remain focused on expanding our total addressable market. We have a robust pipeline of consumer-centric innovations and are building full portfolios across price points. To support this, we are strengthening our supply chain operations and ramping up new capabilities and channels in digital, e-commerce, and chemists.”
 
Godrej Consumer Products Ltd is owned by the billion-dollar firm Godrej Group and has a strong presence in the personal care and cosmetics market.
