Goat Brand Labs has acquired a 90% stake in The Label Life, marking the brand incubator's entry into the women’s fast-fashion market. Goat Brand Labs aims to expand The Label Life’s product categories and increase revenue.

The Label Life will launch new product lines with Goat Brand Labs - The Label Life

The Label Life currently retails an array of fashion garments, footwear, accessories, and homeware. Following the acquisition, Goat Brand Labs plans to expand these existing categories and also launch new product lines including jewellery, cosmetics, personal care, and loungewear, among others.

“Women's fashion and beauty are the hottest spaces in e-commerce in India, and we were extremely keen to acquire a strong brand with high growth potential,” said Goat Brand Labs’ head Rishi Vasudev in a statement, the Economic Times reported. “We will scale the brand exponentially by expanding globally and launching new product categories. The aim is to make it one of the first direct-to-consumer brands to hit the Rs 500 crore revenue mark by 2025.”

Following the acquisition, Goat Brand Labs will absorb the majority of The Label Life’s employees into its own business. The Label Life’s co-founder, Preeta Sukhtankar, will transition from her current operating role into an advisory role and the business’ other co-founders Yashika Punjabee and Sonam Shah, who joined in 2016, will join Goat Brand Labs’ direct-to-consumer business.

“As the founding team we have always believed that while we have the competency to build brands and understand style and aspiration, we've always hoped to partner with like minded people who bring on board scale and strategic capability to help the brand achieve what it deserves,” said The Label Life co-founder, Shah.
