Goa University partners with JD Institute to offer fashion degree course
Goa University has partnered with the JD Institute of Fashion Technology and will now offer a B.Sc. in Fashion and Apparel Design and B.Sc. in Interior Design, as Goa continues as one of India’s fastest growing education centres.
The JD Institute of Fashion Technology has opened a campus in Goa and is now affiliated with Goa University, India Today reported. Starting from this year, students will be able to study fashion design in Goa, as the area continues to grow as a fashion hub.
"JD will break the typical stereotype of Goa being known only for tourism, and make it a hub for fashion,” said the JD Educational Trust’s Director of South, Sandra Sequeira, in a statement.
“The beauty of nature inspires even the most dullard person, and creativity will soar sky-high when a person is surrounded by beaches, and the view of the vast expanding ocean… This affiliation will give rise to more employment and job opportunities, lifting entrepreneurs, and the development of export houses."
The JD Institute of Fashion Technology was founded in October 1988 in Mumbai and now has campuses in several Indian states. The institution provides higher education across a variety of disciplines with a focus on fashion and design.
