The Gem and Jewellery Skill Council of India will hold its first ever India Jewellery Excellence Symposium in Mumbai from January 8 to 9, 2020. The conclave will include 22 seminars on the jewellery industry.

The GJSCI’s January symposium aims to be a first-of-its-kind in India - Gem and Jewellery Skill Council of India

The upcoming IJES will bring together Indian and international gem and jewellery experts to discuss technological advances in the industry and present on manufacturing and business best practices, the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council announced on its website. The event will be adapted from the Santa Fe Symposium and aims to carry on its legacy as it closes its event after 24 years.

“We believe that knowledge is important, and we aim to up-skill the manufacturing processes and train our people so that India can eventually start supplying to top global brands,” the GJSCI’s chairman Sanjay Kothari said, reported by the GJEPC. “We need to up our game and be globally competitive. Our ultimate goal is to see India flourish.”

Topics that will be covered over the course of the event include blockchain, human resources practices, technological innovations, and Six Sigma methodology. The event will also facilitate on-on-one sessions to allow businesses to speak with industry experts. Each participating business will be allowed to bring five delegates and attend seminars.

After the events concludes, a book will be released to document the collected data from the conclave. The event also aims to promote the government’s “Make in India” and “Skill India” initiatives which seek to increase domestic production and exports.
