GJEPC trains jewellery entrepreneurs at Kolkata outreach event

The Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council held an Exporter Outreach Program in Kolkata to train jewellery entrepreneurs on export procedures. The event was designed to promote jewellery exports and drew a crowd of over 100 participants.

The interactive event was chaired by Kolkata’s IRS commissioner of customs Janab Ataur Rahman, the GJEPC reported on its website. Other dignitaries who attended the session includedKolkata’s joint commissioner of customs Bheem Ratan Rawat, Air Cargo Kolkata’s general manager K. Selvakumar, and others as well as representatives from Yes Bank, Federal Bank, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, and officials from the West Bengal government.
 
The GJEPC’s regional chairman Pankaj Parekh thanked the government for its continuous support concerning export operations in the region. Parekh also urged young entrepreneurs to come forward and begin export operations, showing how the channel has great potential for growth, especially through harnessing e-commerce. 

The joint director general of foreign trade Dona Ghosh shared insights into policy issues affecting the gems and jewellery sector with a focus on e-commerce business. Rahman told participants that the government will work on looking into resolving issues faced by the exporter community to facilitate future growth.
