GJEPC to hold IGJS in Dubai for the first time this August

Published
Jun 8, 2021

The Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council will hold jewellery trade show International Gem and Jewellery Show in Dubai for the first time from August 14 to 16, to boost jewellery export trade.

The GJEPC will bring Indian jewellery brands to Dubai this August with first IGJS in Dubai - GJEPC- India- Facebook

With support from the Government of India’s Department of Commerce, IGJS Dubai will link Indian jewellery manufacturers and retailers with global buyers including retailers, importers, jewellery manufacturers sourcing diamonds and gemstones, and design houses, among others. The Middle East accounts for 40% of India’s total gem and jewellery exports, making it a major market, according to the GJEPC.

“To cater to the pent-up demand and a call from exhibitors and buyers for a physical show as the pandemic recedes, GJEPC is organising the first ever IGJS in Dubai,” said GJEPC chairman Colin Shah, the GJEPC reported on its website.

“We are expecting top decision makers from the UAE, the Middle East and other targeted regions like Africa and China to attend the event.”

Product categories which will feature in the trade show include plain gold and gold studded jewellery, silver jewellery, loose diamonds and gemstones, and diamond studded jewellery. The trade show will include 150 booths for traders and target buyers from countries including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Iran, Lebanon, the UK, the U.S., Africa, Russia, CIS, SAARC countries, and China.

“A physical exhibition in Dubai this August will be an ideal way to connect with international clients from across the world, as key export markets such as the U.S., Hong Kong and the UAE have opened up for economic activities and are witnessing considerable demand for diamonds, gemstones and jewellery,” said Shah.

Although flights between India and numerous nations in the Middle East are currently suspended due to the pandemic, the GJEPC remains hopeful that the end of June will see restrictions ease. The GJEPC has also stated that it will follow the UAE government’s health and safety regulations for the business-to-business event.
