GJEPC takes trade delegation to China, attends China International Import Expo

The Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council has taken a trade delegation to China to promote Indian jewellery exports and is attending the second China International Import Expo in Shanghai.
The GJEPC’s eight member trade delegation has met with a number of Chinese trade associations in its ongoing China visit, the organisation posted on its website. The GJEPC delegation is comprised of diamond, coloured gemstone and jewellery businesses from Surat, Jaipur, and Mumbai.
The delegation visited manufacturing units in the Panyu Manufacturing Zone and held discussions with the Guangzhou Panyu Jewellery Manufacturers Association. The aim of the visit is to boost Indian jewellery exports to mainland China as part of the GJEPC’s overall work to increase Indian exports abroad.
The GJEPC’s trade delegation is attending the China International Import Expo from November 7 to 8. The trade show was inaugurated by the Chinese President Xi Jinping on November 5 and the GJEPC’s promotional stall is located within the India Pavilion.
The Union Government’s Commerce Secretary Anup Wadhawan visited the India Pavilion at the trade show and Indian Ambassador to China Vikram Misri discussed issues facing the jewellery industry at the GJEPC’s stall. The event features businesses from over 90 countries and runs from November 5 to 10.
