The Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council has reported a greater level of interest than expected in its upcoming virtual edition of India International Jewellery Show, scheduled for October.

The GJEPC’s IIJS trade show was originally set to take place in August, but ongoing Covid-19 travel restrictions necessitated a delay and the organisation decided on an online edition scheduled to run from October 12 to 16. Despite the change of circumstances, the GJEPC has seen a high level of interest in the digital jewellery trade show, it reported on its website.

“A large and comprehensive virtual jewellery trade fair, IIJS Virtual will be an opportunity for our exhibitors and buyers to connect, talk business and place orders from the comfort of their offices or homes,” said GJEPC chairman Colin Shah.

“Although we missed out on the August show, we couldn't let another opportunity go by. Bolstered by the midstream's confidence in a pick-up in festive and wedding demand, the Council went into high gear to organise IIJS Virtual in record time, to ensure that the IIJS lives up to its earned reputation as the backbone of the Indian industry's growth.”

GJEPC convenor for exhibitions, Shailesh Sangani, recent held a meeting for exhibitors and announced that the virtual trade show will feature three tiers of booths for jewellers: Ordinary, Premium, and Super Premium. The trade show is timed to take place just before the height of the festive season, the GJEPC announced.

The trade show is free for visitors, who will have access to exhibitors’ product selections starting from seven days prior to the opening of the online event. Visitors can add products to an online ‘wishlist’ and schedule meetings with exhibiting businesses for during the course of the event.
