GJEPC promotes MSME schemes for jewellery industry

The Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council has collaborated with the Union Government’s Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises to promote a scheme to boost MSMEs online.

The GJEPC held its latest webinar in partnership with Branch MSME-DI Tura Meghalaya of the Union MSME Ministry to raise awareness on the ‘Sambhav’ e-National Level Awareness Programme for existing and potential entrepreneurs, the GJEPC announced on its website. The scheme is designed to boost MSMEs and encourage people to join the sector. 
 
The webinar, which was attended by 103 participants, was moderated by the GJEPC’s MSME convenor Manish Jivani. Participants were introduced to a number of government schemes for MSMEs in the gem and jewellery export business. 

The GJEPC is also promoting MSME participation in international facing trade shows. Jivani told participants that the recently concluded trade show India International Jewellery Show Signature 2022 approved 94 MSMEs to avail the exhibition participation benefit of up to Rs 1.5 lakh reimbursement.
 
As well as exhibition participation, the GJEPC is also working to promote technology upgradation in the MSME sector as well as infrastructure amelioration and skills development with the overarching goal of boosting exports. Nilesh Trivedi, assistant director at MSME-DI, Ministry of MSMEs, shared information at the event on a number of these schemes including self employment schemes and skills development schemes.
