GJEPC holds training in Jaipur, MSME meet in Ratnagiri

The Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council recently took its customs training program to Jaipur and co-hosted a micro, small, and medium enterprise meet in Ratnagiri to encourage exports.

The GJEPC’s Jaipur Regional Office joined forces with the Jaipur Gem Testing Laboratory to hold an 'Introduction to Gemstones' training course for officers in Jaipur, the organisation announced on its website. The training took place at the Customs and Excise department at the National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes, and Narcotics in Jaipur.
 
The training was part of the GJEPC’s initiative to increase awareness on identifying and valuing coloured gemstones. The three-day course which began on January 22 was coordinated with additional director general Simmi Jain. The GJEPC has held similar training sessions for customs officials on various aspects of the jewellery industry in Kolkata and Delhi.

The GJEPC also hosted a MSME meet for around 100 artisans in Ratnagiri, Maharashtra, on January 19 along with the Swarnakar Sangh and Sant Narhari Sonar Sangh organisations. The GJEPC promoted its various services and schemes such as its Parichay Card, Swasthya Kosh and Swasthya Ratna medical insurance schemes for jewellery makers, and its upcoming Jewellery Park in Navi Mumbai. 
 
The GJEPC also spoke about its export promotion initiatives and encouraged jewellers to showcase their work at international fairs, detailing available government financial assistance. The meet also promoted upcoming GJEPC events such as its business-to-business event India International Jewellery Show.
