GJEPC holds first GJEPC Connect event in Mumbai
The Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council held its first ever ‘GJEPC Connect’ event in Mumbai to increase awareness about its initiatives and promote its activities to boost exports.
The GJEPC’s recent industry connect event was attended by over 120 guests including members of the GJEPC and the wider jewellery industry, the traders’ body announced on its website. To detail the GJEPC’s activities, the event featured several presentations, including on Certificate of Origin applications for exports from India under the India-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement.
“We are coming up with a new programme for our new generation who have joined our industry,” said the GJEPC’s events convenor Mansukh Kothari, the GJEPC reported. “Most of them are well educated from abroad and have new ideas to take our sector to new level. We want to do this programme along with the IIJS Premiere where we will bring everybody on one platform to share their knowledge.”
The event also featured an ‘open house’ and discussions on Special Economic Zone developments. Other topics included lab grown diamonds and government policy reform.
“We have close to 8,000 members from across the country, and this initiative we have started from Mumbai, will be held in other parts of the country as well,” said GJEPC chairman Colin Shah. “It’s an effort to communicate to our members in an effective and timely manner about everything that GJEPC is doing. This platform would be used to make the members aware of the initiatives taken in the immediate past and get feedback from them as to what GJEPC could be doing better.”
