Published
Jul 12, 2021

Calling the recent Sharjah jewellery show in the UAE a tremendous success, the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council has high hopes for its upcoming International Gem and Jewellery Show Dubai.

IGJS Dubai has seen a positive response so far, according to the GJEPC - GJEPC- India- Facebook

To date, over 250 buyers have registered to attend the IGJS Dubai business-to-business trade show scheduled to take place in Dubai from August 14 to 16, the GJEPC reported on its website. The GJEPC expects this total to exceed 600 before the event begins. Over 95 of the total of 150 stalls for jewellery businesses have also been booked so far.

“We are thankful to the UAE government for granting permission to 100 GJEPC members to participate at the recently concluded Sharjah show,” said GJEPC chairman Colin Shah, the GJEPC reported.

“I would also like to thank the Indian Embassy in UAE for being in constant touch with UAE government authorities for getting the required permission and arrangements. The Emirates arranged for a chartered flight between Delhi and Dubai, enabling all exhibitors to participate in the show.”

The GJEPC is currently liaising with the the Indian Embassy in the UAE to arrange a similar travel facility for its upcoming IGJS Dubai trade show to ensure safety for participants. IGJS Dubai is supported by the Department of Commerce, Government of India, and will feature product categories including plain gold jewellery, gold studded jewellery, diamond studded jewellery, silver jewellery, and loose diamonds and gemstones.

“We have buyers from all across the world including Algeria, Bahrain, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Pakistan, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Spain, UAE, USA, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, United Kingdom, Malaysia, Singapore, South Africa, Oman, and Qatar,” said the GJEPC’s convenor for international exhibitions, Dilip Shah.

“We would be organising the show, adhering to all preventive and precautionary measures related to Covid that have been prescribed by the UAE.”
