GJEPC elects Colin Shah as new chairman

The Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council has elected Colin Shah as its new chairman the organisation announced on June 9.

This year, the GJEPC’s Committee of Administration held its elections to elect and re-elect its council members through an online voting process which ran from March 20 to 26, the traders’ body announced on its website. The GJEPC’s vice chairman Colin Shah was elected as chairman for the new term which will run from 2020 to 2022.
 
One of the GJEPC’s former chairmen, Vipul P Shah, was elected as vice chairman and will take over Colin Shah’s previous role. Other members of the CoA who were elected include Ram Babu Gupta, elected to the silver jewellery panel.

Mahendra Agarwal was elected to the coloured gemstones panel and pearl panel and Shailesh H Sangani was elected to the gold jewellery panel and other precious metals jewellery panel, the GJEPC announced. Chirag D Lakhi was elected to the diamond panel and Badri Narayanan Gupta was elected to the synthetic stones, costume jewellery, and sales to foreign tourist panel. 
 
The election also covered the roles of the GJEPC’s regional chairmen. Ashok Seth was named as chairman for the northern region, Nirmal Kumar Bardiya for the Rajasthan region, and Prakash Chandra Pincha for the eastern region. Mahender Kumar Tayal was elected as chairman for the southern region, Dineshbhai Ramjibhai Navadiya for the Gujarat region, and Ashokbhai H Gajera for the western region.
