GJEPC and SEEPZ-SEZ sign MoU for Mega CFC
The Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Santacruz Electronics Export Processing Zone’s Special Economic Zone authority. The agreement will facilitate the running of a Mega Common Facility Centre at SEEPZ.
The MoU was signed by the SEEPZ development commissioner Shyam Jagannathan and GJEPC chairman Vipul Shah, the GJEPC reported on its website. The MoU and Mega CFC are designed to boost fine jewellery production in the area and enable manufacturing businesses to have access to greater technology and equipment to help them improve their products and boost exports.
“The Mega CFC being the dream project of Honourable Minister of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Piyush Goyal, will go a long way in technologically transforming the industry,” said GJEPC chairman Vipul Shah on the occasion of the signing, the GJEPC reported.
Other dignitaries present at the MoU signing included GJEPC vice chairman Kirit Bhansali, SEEPZ joint development commissioner C.P. Singh Chauhan, Working Group and SEZ Authority member Adil Kotwal, SEZ Committee members Bobby Kothari and Neville Tata, and GJEPC executive director Sabyasachi Ray.
“I thank GJEPC for the assistance provided. GJEPC and SEEPZ, as partners, are translating a path-breaking project of the Mega CFC,” said SEEPZ development commissioner Shyam Jagannathan. “I also thank everyone involved in this prestigious project for their efforts in reaching the objective.”
