GJEPC and De Beers celebrate diamond guru Stephen Lussier at gala event, welcome successor Marc Jacheet
The Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council and De Beers held a joint ceremony for Stephen Lussier to celebrate his contribution to the marketing of diamonds and close to four decade-long career.
The GJEPC and De Beers jointly held a send-off for Lussier on February 28 and farewell press conference on March 1, the GJEPC announced on its website. Lussier will step down from his role at De Beers as group executive vice president for brands and consumer markets on April 1 after 37 years. Former president at Tiffany & Co. for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa Marc Jacheet was named as Lussier’s successor at the event and Jacheet will take over the role from April 1.
“The multi-billion-dollar Indian diamond industry owes a lot to Stephen Lussier,” said GJEPC chairman Colin Shah in his keynote address at the event. “He has played a significant role and is one of the chief architects of the India diamond success story. It is our good fortune Stephen that you chose to dedicate your life to the cause of promoting diamonds.”
“Stephen Lussier is a rare gem and has shaped the entire marketing of miracles of nature,” said De Beers India’s managing director Sachin Jain at the event. “He is always bursting with ideas and is a huge inspiration for all of us.”
