Swiss group Givaudan, specialised in fragrance and scent manufacturing, announced on Wednesday the opening of a perfumery school in Singapore, to draw closer to its Asian clients. It's the first of its kind outside France, and it features also a new fragrance creation centre.

Givaudan indicated in a press release that the site also includes manufacturing facilities.

The school will train Asia's future perfumers, the Geneva group stated. The new school's objective is to create fragrances that correspond to local consumer tastes.

Emerging countries are one of the main growth axes for the Swiss group. Givaudan invested CHF 70 million (€64 million) in this facility, the largest investment ever undertaken by its perfumery division.

The creation centre is now fully operational and employs a staff of 170.
