Gemewizard has branched out into online education, the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council reported on its website. It now offers a course for students containing detailed information on the grading, evaluation, and pricing of gems with the aim of training them to work in a business environment.

“The goal we set ourselves in developing the course was that it should bridge the gap between theoretical gemmology and commercial reality, where sometimes subtle variances in gem properties translate into substantial differences in value,” Gem Color Academy’s founder and Gemewizard president Menahem Sevdermish told the GJEPC.

Gemewizard, which has over 40 years experience in the global gem industry, has incorporated over 100 interactive exercises into its online course and will also send students a gem kit with 25 samples to practice grading. Students will also get a one-year subscription to Gemewizard products such as its online pricing system for gems and diamonds, GemePrice™.

The GJEPC recently reported that India’s coloured gem exports for the April to July period of 2019 totalled Rs 724.24 crore compared to Rs 783.38 crore during April to July, 2018. This represents a decrease of 7.55% year-on-year.
