Gavins, a clothing brand based in Hyderabad, launched its first ever children’s fashion event at the weekend. The kid’s fashion show aimed to get children excited about the fashion industry and give them a window into its workings, as well as showcase children’s fashion, a fast growing category in India.

At Hyderabad’s Chirag Ali Lane, 40 child models walked the runway in designs created by INIFD Academy students and were styled by members of Studio7. A number of children’s wear brands including Avira, Tathastu, AIr girl, Rashi, Oks Boys, Attitude, and Deal also showcased their designs on the runway at the event.

The models were selected from 800 applicants who attended the casting call on November 25. Following the auditions, the children were coached on modelling and grooming and some have already secured future modelling work.

The event also made it a priority not to require monetary involvement from parents in the model auditions to allow for all children to participate. Gavins stated that it wanted to give children a fair chance to launch their modelling careers. The event reported a turnout of 10,000 children and parents on its first day.
