Gauri & Nainika and Nikhil Thampi collaborate with Reebok

Indian designers Gauri & Nainika and Nikhil Thampi have collaborated with the international sportswear brand Reebok to customise its Reebok Club C sneakers.

Design duo Gauri & Nainika’s design for Reebok was inspired by the brand’s muse Malaika Arora and designers Gauri and Nainika Karan created a sneaker that features dramatic tulle frills at the back. The result is “The Red Carpet Sneaker” which mixes glitter and feminine frills with Reebok’s classic design.
  
“With the Reebok Club C, we’ve stayed within the brand’s simplistic colour palette and structure and yet added our signature touch with exaggerated tulle ruffles with a hint of embellishment,” the designers told Vogue India about their creation. 

Nikhil Thampi, known for his couture line, was inspired by Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor for his creation. Thampi hand painted gold and silver on his Reebok Club C sneakers and added gold metal details to create a futuristic piece.

“We wanted to keep the design cool, without making it seem like it’s trying too hard,” Thampi told Vogue India about his creation. “The Reebok Club C is casual with a youthful and glamorous vibe. It lets you add your mark to it.”

The UK-based sportswear business Reebok first entered the Indian market in 1995. The brand appointed Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif as its India brand ambassador in July to take over from Kangana Ranaut. Reebok has over 200 brick-and-mortar stores in India and retails on a number of multi-brand e-commerce platforms.
