As Gaurav Gupta’s recently launched e-commerce store has reported strong sales, the designer plans to expand his online offerings and increase his use of technology.

After just two days of launching, Gupta’s e-commerce store sold 200 pieces, the designer told Vogue India. The site, which retails both the brand’s ready-to-wear and couture collections, also offers customers designer consultations online.
“We were always a little skeptical of offering couture online because of counterfeits and were unsure if people were ready to make heavy purchases online,” Gupta told Vogue India.
“Initially, we had only considered ready-to-wear or taking only a certain segment on e-commerce, but the pandemic made us take the leap to go live with all collections.”
Gupta plans to hold exclusive ready-to-wear and jewellery launches online in the future. The designer also plans to explore the use of augmented reality as a design tool.
On September 18, Gaurav Gupta will open the Fashion Design Council of India’s first-ever digital edition of its annual event India Couture Week. In lieu of a traditional runway show, Gupta will present his upcoming couture collection through an exclusively created video presentation.
