On Tuesday, Gaurav Gupta presented his latest menswear and womenswear collection on day two of India Couture Week’s ongoing virtual edition. Gupta is known for his sculpted metal-thread sarees and they were once again the stars of the show this season, adorned with glittering sequins and intricate beadwork giving a nod to the 1920s.

Subtle ocean hues, neutrals, aubergines, and midnight blues made up the colour palette for a understated yet regal effect. Models wore natural hair and makeup and Gupta’s diverse cast showcased the versatility of his designs, the they worn by a blue-haired young woman or silver-haired grandmother.

Monochrome looks dominated for the menswear with metal strips acting as accents on some tailored jackets and elaborate floral and bird inspired 3D embroidery on others. White trousers kept the extravagant looks clean and modern and oversized bowties added a flamboyant touch.

India Couture Week launched on August 23 and runs until August 29 online. Organised by the Fashion Design Council of India, this digital edition is its second in this format after first going online due to the pandemic.
