Gaurav Gupta’s new menswear line Gaurav Gupta Man has launched a new collection and campaign which translates the couturier’s sculptural, glittering downs into sleek suits made from unexpected materials.

Gaurav Gupta's mix of masculine and feminine - Gaurav Gupta- Facebook

Gaurav Gupta Man has launched as a ready-to-wear line of conceptual occasion wear in stores and online, the brand announced on Facebook. The line makes Gupta’s designs more accessible but no less conceptual.

The collection features a number of traditionally feminine elements from corsets to beaded embellishments and bows and reimagines them in a more masculine way by using a dark colour palette and sleek tailoring. Gupta’s architectural lines feature on blazer collars and his use of boning features in black corsets worn over dress shirts. A notable look is a black latex bodysuit which contrasts the collection’s suits.

Shot by Paraffin Films, the collection’s campaign presents the striking garments against a stark white background with production by MMC World and hair and makeup by Leeview Makeup, the brand announced on Facebook. Models including Mayank Bajpai, Nikhil Chauhan, and Mehul Nijhawan also feature in the campaign.

Gaurav Gupta also recently dressed Bollywood celebrity Aishwarya Rai for the 75th Cannes Film Festival in France. Rai wore a light pink gown inspired by the goddess Venus, handmade using beading techniques and draped by Gupta himself, the dress encapsulated Gupta’s futuristic take on Indian tradition.
