Gaurav Gupta opens Lakme Fashion Week with Tabu, Karan Johar as showstoppers

Designer Gaurav Gupta opened the Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort edition showcasing his ‘The Unfolding’ collection at the Royal Opera House in Mumbai.
 

Bollywood actor Tabu and producer/director Karan Johar walked the ramp for the designer as showstoppers. The designer collaborated with poetess Navkirat Sodhi for the show who recited her original poetry suspended in the air, dressed in a 20-foot gown.
 
Talking about his showstoppers Gaurav said, “Tabu is my perfect muse as she has always been breaking rules and living by her own rules and setting new cultural definition. I resonate with that part. Karan is a powerhouse. The way he is, the kind of films he makes and his personality is perfect for a Gaurav Gupta man.

Commenting on the collection Tabu said, “Gaurav's style resonates with who I am and his clothes complement my body. The gown he gave me fitted perfectly in the first go and that says a lot about his skills, his craft and his understanding of the body and the person that he dressing. It was really exciting to walk for him.”
 
Karan added, “Gaurav s fashion is edgy and out there and it is something I completely relate to. So it is a great balance of holding back and pushing through and Gaurav does it really efficiently. I have been wearing his clothes. I love the drama they have.”
