Gaurav Gupta steps into bridal wear with ‘Gaurav Gupta Bride’

Designer Gaurav Gupta has launched his first line dedicated to bridal couture named ‘Gaurav Gupta Bride’ with a range of opulent lehengas. 

On February 3, Gupta launched his new bridal line on Facebook with a flurry of jewel encrusted, sculptural lehengas. Large, embroidered peacocks, pearl and glass beading, and a classic colour palette of deep reds, navy, and champagne makes for a line which mixes everything that is expected from a luxury bridal line with Gupta’s signature, more experimental aesthetic. 
 
“There have been people wanting me to launch a bridal collection because they love the detail the brand has to offer,” Gupta told Vogue India about his new launch.

“And so, I think Gaurav Gupta Bride was long due. It was time to create this specialised segment of a sub-brand within the couture brand we are today.”

Gupta’s first bridal collection was inspired by nature and mythology, according to the designer. Using fabrics including velvet and silk and heritage craft techniques including Zardosi, Gupta uses traditional techniques to render his vision in a more traditional way. 
 
“Each lehenga is a piece of art, a multi layered embroidered painting expressing different forms of fantasy,” said Gupta. “Explorative and layered embroideries breathe life into life-like peacocks that look as though they are in motion. We have an obsession with blending culture and art forms. Designs that are almost rhythmic so that the eye doesn’t stop at one place, there is science hidden behind this art. It is an extreme couture process wherein we rework a single artwork multiple times which follows endless exploration and attention to detail.”
 
The maiden collection was photographed at Jaisalmer to present the designs in a historic, regal setting. The line is available through bridal appointments, bookable via WhatsApp.
