On October 15, Gaurav Gupta presented his new menswear and womenswear collection titled ‘Starland’ on the runway. The collection played with proportion and mixed classic traditional wear elements with futuristic tailoring and textiles.

The collection contrasted silvers and whites with blacks and deep blue hues for a strong contrast and celestial aesthetic. Crystal burst embroideries on gowns and skintight bodysuits gave the collection an air of fantasy and showcased the meticulous construction the eponymous designer has become known for.

Bollywood celebrity Sidharth Malhotra closed the show wearing a black ensemble which mixed traditional finery with streetwear. Pairing an embroidered velvet overcoat with a sparkling top and black shiny trousers, Malhotra embodied Gupta’s inspiration for the collection.

Lakme Fashion Week in partnership with the FDCI ran from October 12 to 16 in Mumbai. The fashion week took place at the Jio World Convention Centre and was sponsored by Nexa. Along with runway shows, the fashion week also featured design contests, sustainable fashion initiatives, and a one-day business-to-customer shopping fair.
