Gaurang presented regal spectacle for its latest collection ‘Taramati’ on October 21, day one of Lakme Fashion Week. The collection featured handloom sarees inspired by the Golconda era.

Gaurang’s latest collection presented a regal and opulent take on femininity. The brand’s fashion film began with models dressed in white dancing in the doorway of the Golconda fort in Hyderabad. As the camera panned above them and they twirled dramatically, the fullness of the dancers’ skirts created full circles.

A soundtrack of melodious singing and rhythmic tabla playing serenaded models who began to walk inside from the palace’s arched entrance dressed in handloom sarees.

Ensembles became more and more colourful as the video continued and reds, greens, and floral designs featured on thick, handloom sarees. The collection celebrated the sustainable art of handloom and the region’s craft heritage.

Bi-annual, Mumbai-based fashion week Lakme Fashion Week has gone both digital and season-fluid for the first time in response to the coronavirus crisis. This season, both day one and day two are dedicated to sustainable fashion.

Earlier in the month, Gaurang launched dedicated e-commerce stores for menswear and children’s wear. The brand retails its womenswear line from its e-commerce store and also has a brick-and-mortar store in Hyderabad and presence in multi-brand boutiques.
