The course is taught in Hindi language and the GJSCI will begin the course in English language in around a month’s time, the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council announced on its website. The digitisation of educational courses for the jewellery industry is one of the most important needs for the sector, which is pivoting towards digital solutions, according to the GJSCI.

The GJSCI’s first digitally delivered course will address the key aspects of working as a jewellery retail sales associate. The course has interactive features and is designed to be engaging for both beginners and working professionals.

The course can be undertaken on a variety of devices including smartphones, laptops, and tablets with the aim of making it accessible to diverse groups of people. The course is priced affordably, according to the GJSCI, and will issue graduates with a digital certificate upon successful completion.

The GJSCI plans to expand the delivery of the digital course in the future and is considering offering it in regional languages such as Tamil, Malayalam, and Gujarati as per demand. The GJSCI sees the job of jewellery retail sales associate as a highly popular one and aims to train the next generation of workers in the sector.
