Titled ‘RoDTEP– Benefits, Challenges and the Way Forward’, the webinar took place on August 30 in collaboration with Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan, the GJEPC reported on its website. Over 85 jewellers attended and received guidance on how to claim benefits under the RoDTEP scheme among other similar schemes. By increasing industry knowledge on export taxes and schemes, the GJEPC aims to help jewellers to claim the benefits they are eligible for.

The GJEPC guided jewellers through RoDTEP rates for materials used in fine jewellery manufacturing including pearls, diamonds, platinum, silver, and synthetic gems. The traders’ body explained the e-scrips which are issued under the RoDTEP scheme including how to claim them and how to transfer them. The GJEPC also held an interactive Q&A with the jewellers on the scheme and covered various goods and services tax and VAT related issues.

The GJEPC launched a series of webinars during the first nationwide lockdown to keep jewellers up-to-date on evolving industry regulations and encourage tax literacy. The GJEPC’s events designed to inform jewellers of government regulations and schemes are part of its wider efforts to boost jewellery exports.
