The expo was held as part of the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative by the Union Government which is designed to promote and increase domestic production in multiple areas from jewellery and textiles to food and heavy industry. The Khasdar (Sansad) Udyogic Mahotsav expo ran in Nagpur this week and was organised by the Government of India, the GJEPC announced on its website.

The event was an initiative by Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, who discussed his efforts to develop the MSME sector in the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra. According to Gadkari, over  5,000 people are associated with the gem and jewellery industry in the Vidarbha region. By boosting the area’s MSME industry, this would also aid the jewellery sector.

The GJEPC’s membership director Mithilesh Pandey gave a speech at the event about the various initiatives undertaken by the organisation to promote gem and jewellery exports, including the Jewellery Park, Parichay card scheme, India International Jewellery Show trade show, and Digital Directory, among others.
