The GJEPC and DGFT’s joint Export Outreach Programme took place at the Ludhiana Club at the city’s Civil Lines, the GJEPC reported on its website on March 14. The interactive event was attended by over 45 jewellery exporters, both GJEPC members and non-members.

The programme was held in order to educate attendees on the procedures of gems and jewellery exports in order to make the process more accessable. During the event, the GJEPC’s regional chairman promoted GJEPC membership and encouraged jewellery business owners to begin exporting and highlighted the growth opportunities present in the international market.

The DGFT’s Ludhiana chapter also delivered an informative presentation on exports and officials from the ECGC Regional Office in Ludhiana highlighted the role of the ECGC in mitigating risks associated with exporting gems and jewellery. The Union Government is keen to increase high-value gem and jewellery exports as part of its wider drive to increase both exports and domestic production as part of its ‘Make in India’ campaign.
